It’s time for WordCamp Orange County!
Last weekend Gregg & Marc traveled East for WordCamp Miami. This weekend ServerPress travels Westward for WordCamp Orange County. We are excited to attend, speak, and sponsor WCOC.
Gregg will be representing our whole team this weekend; be sure to stop by and say hi. He’s going to have a slick sponsor booth set up, sweet swag to pass out, and a great beginner workshop for you to attend. We know he’s going to have a great time at #wcoc!
Orange County WordCamp Beginner’s Workshop
This session kicks off Saturday at 9am and runs through 12:20pm. If you are new to WordPress and want some hands on help getting started – this workshop is for you! Adam and Kathryn are incredibly gifted teachers and seasoned WordCamp presenters, and Gregg is looking forward to working alongside them in this workshop. You can read more about the Beginner’s Workshop on the official WordCamp Orange County website – but here’s a short synopsis:
SETUP: We will go through the entire Dashboard, sharing useful tools and providing tips along the way.
THEMES: We will cover what to look for in a WordPress theme, how to find a good one, best practices and more.
PLUGINS: We’ll clarify the difference between widgets and plugins. We’ll discuss how to make an informed decision about which plugin to use – and explore how to troubleshoot any conflicts that may crop up.
Want S’more Info about DesktopServer?
If you’re new to WordPress and/or DesktopServer – take the opportunity to meet Gregg at our booth. He will be more than happy to demo DesktopServer software for you and answer any questions you might have. If you are new to WordPress and want help getting a solid workflow / development environment set up, Gregg can quickly show you how to get that done. You’ll walk away from WordCamp OC ready to hit the ground running.
If you’ve been developing, designing or managing WordPress websites for a while and you’re looking for a more sane way to wrangle all the responsibilities that come along with site management – AND you’ve never seen DesktopServer in action – stop by the booth and talk to Gregg. Many seasoned developers think DesktopServer is for beginners, but truthfully it’s for anyone who works in WordPress. If you are (or should be!) working on local WordPress installations, you should be working with DesktopServer. While it IS a great tool for beginners, seasoned designers and developers (freelancers through VIP teams) can benefit from our software features.
How About S’more Swag
Handing out swag at WordCamps is actually a LOT of fun and one of our favorite things to do. This year for our sponsor table, we wanted to bring in a small fire pit, some lawn chairs, some fake grass, and some citronella candles to create a more immersive experience for you all.
But, those darn fire codes.
So we settled on creating some fun S’more treats for everyone. While it’s not the same as a good ol’ fashioned Kumbaya moment around a campfire together – it is still Sweet Swag. Please come by the booth and grab a snack while you’re moving between sessions. Gregg will be manning the table after his morning Beginner’s Workshop session.
Cheers to S’more Savings
