Ngrok Integration

Ngrok Integration provides you with a tool to share your local DesktopServer website with a Client, Designer, Developer or anyone out past your firewall. Ngrok is a service that easily sets up an encrypted tunnel between a client site and your locally developed DesktopServer site. What’s a tunnel? It is essentially a secure point to point connection through the internet in which the client (your customer) can speak to a server (your local DesktopServer site).

Ngrok integration with DesktopServer is included with all Premium Accounts. The Ngrok service itself, allows you to share one site at a time (one active tunnel) at no charge.

Using Ngrok Integration

To use Ngrok you can click on the link located in the Dashboard / Admin bar of one of your sites or by going to http://localhost and click the Ngrok(share) Button. This will open a Terminal window, creating the secure tunnel. Also a new browser window will open with the links to share your site. 

You can setup an account with Ngrok to gain additional benefits. After setting up the account you will be provided a “Ngrok Auth Token” and you can reserve a “Ngrok Reserved Sub Domain”. These can be entered into the Ngrok settings located on http://localhost > Tools > Ngrok Settings.
