Announcing Our Latest Design-Time Plugin for DesktopServer (And it’s FREE!): Database Backup Utility

When we introduced Design-Time Plugins for DesktopServer, the goal was to be able to add functionality to your workflow through the use of extensions which are easy to install and use.

With our latest release of v3.9.1, DesktopServer has more capabilities than ever, paving the road for us to add to DesktopServer’s power faster than ever before.

To that end, we’re happy to announce the release of our Database Archive Utility, a free Design-Time plugin available to both Premium and Limited users of Desktopserver.

Once installed, this utility will allow for you to set a backup schedule for all of your databases along with your main DesktopServer Configuration File. In the event of database corruption, you will now have backups which are easy to restore, getting you back up and running in no time.

To download the Database Archive Utility, log into your account and go to the downloads section. You will find a link to the .zip file there. Download the file, decompress it, and copy the decompressed directory to your ds-plugins directory. On Windows this is found at c:\xampplite\ds-plugins and on machines running Macintosh, you’ll find it at Applications\Xampp\ds-plugins. Restart DesktopServer and activate the “Database Archive Utility” Plugin.

The Database Archive Utility is now included in DesktopServer version 3.9.2.

We hope you find this utility both useful and easy to use. We look forward to bringing you more useful Design-Time plugins to make DesktopServer the absolute MUST for your Development Workflow Toolbox.
