    Hello,
First of all…fantastic software! Awesome stuff!!
so, the question is, how do you play with the available plugins and widgets and so forth? obviously, they dont exist in this virtual world,
so what’s the process to get them into the desktop WP site?
    thanks
    George

    Hello George,
The process is exactly the same as it is with a live server (perhaps a little bit easier). You can install themes and plugins from WordPress’ admin menu for themes and plugins (using the Add New button and browsing for online themes and plugins http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins_Add_New_Screen).

Like wise, you can use the admin menu to upload a theme or simply copy them to your respective theme or plugin folder on your harddrive. By default, DesktopServer creates your websites in their own folder (i.e. the website http://example.dev would have its files located at c:\Users\your-user-name\Documents\Websites\example.dev on Windows or /Users/your-user-name/Documents/Websites/example.dev on Mac).

    Regards,
    Stephen

Heres a quick follow up, can I take a plug in and just place it in the

    Hello George,
Not sure why your search results returned nothing. While DesktopServer can be used offline, the search does need to have a connection to query the WordPress repository. Depending on the plugin author’s install directions, you can usually just place the unzipped plugin folder inside the wp-content/plugins folder. For instance, the akismet plugin (that comes with WordPress) would need to have it’s folder ‘akismet’ located at (for our example site http://example.dev), c:\Users\George\Documents\Websites\example.dev\wp-content\plugins\akismet.

    Regards,
    Stephen

not sure either, but I did get it to work with the link on the wp plugins page in the admin area…I probably missed something. Thanks for your help…
