    Hi Stephen,
I installed a new WordPress site on DS…and added the site to DW, per your tutorial and all was well.

I went to the WP dashboard in my browser to upload and activate a new theme. No problem. Refreshed site in DW, and everything worked great.

But then, when I went to the browser to import the theme’s sample content, it wouldn’t import. It acted like it was going to do it, but it just never finished its process. (This works fine for the same theme and sample content on my remote server,)

So, I decided to duplicate the site I have on my remote server, and import it into DS/DW. But the “Duplicate” plugin didn’t work for this theme on my remotely hosted site!

OK, I know I can still import the site with SQL and XML files, but now I’m a bit nervous that I won’t be able to get things done in the WP backend (dashboard) if my site is hosted locally.

Can you tell me why the import plugin won’t work on the local server, and if there is a way to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Rosemary

Import should work on a local DS site. How is the imported sample content being supplied to you? Is it an XML file? XML files pull in media content over the Internet from the theme author’s website. If you are not connected to the Internet or the author’s site is inaccessible, this could be the point of failure.

Lastly, could you provide your OS / platform version (i.e. Windows 7, Mac 10.7.4, etc.)?

    Thank you for your patience.

    Regards,
    Stephen

    Hello Renny,
DesktopServer should work like your live server. Would it be possible for you to export the site in question and submit it (along with the XML file) to use via dropbox for analysis? You have no obligation to partake in analysis. We will delete your personal information from our test bed upon completion.

To submit your file please do the following: Use DesktopServer’s “Export or import…” option, followed by selecting “Export”. You do not need to fill out any fields (in exception to selecting the website you wish to export from the drop down combo box). Clicking ‘next’ will produce a ZIP archive of the website. Submission via dropbox should be made to our support@serverpress.com address. Please be sure to notify us of your submission if your dropbox email address differs from your registered ServerPress.com account.

    Regards,
    Stephen
