When I try to access http://www.example.dev I get a broken link. Is there a special configuration to access the server I installed.

    iI am in Window 7?

    Thank you

    Hello Tamago,
Please note that example.dev without the ‘www’ is a different site. Only the premium version supports aliases and subdomains. Please take a moment to verify your installation:

    1) First can you visit http://localhost/ and see the orange XAMPP logo?

    Regards,
    Stephen

    Hello Redpic,
Apache and MySQL must be restarted to view the website. Because you have used the XAMPP control panel instead of DesktopServer, you will need to uncheck the ‘svc’ checkboxes annd Stop the services, then restart your computer. After login, start DesktopServer once before visiting http://www.example.dev

    Hello Redpic,
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. Please try the first DesktopServer option, “Stop or restart the web…”, followed by “Restart the web…” option. Please let us know if the issue persists.

    Regards,
    Stephen

    Hello Redpic,
I’m sorry to hear this. It appears that DesktopServer is unable to start/restart the services. In this case, you may have to use the XAMPP control panel to manually stop/restart the service *after* a new site is created or imported. Please check to see if the services are currently running:

MySQL (mysqld.exe) and Apache (httpd.exe) services via your tasklist:

    1) Bring up your tasklist by clicking start and typing taskmgr
    2) Click the “Show processes from all users” button.
    3) in the Processes tab look for mysqld.exe and one or more httpd.exe, right click and select Open File Location

The file location for both mysqld.exe and httpd.exe should be coming from the c:\xampplite folder.

After manually restarting the services, see if you can visit http://www.example.dev. Does the site come up?

    Regards,
    Stephen

Are you able top see the XAMPP logo page by visiting http://localhost ? It should look like the screenshot below. Lastly, please take a moment to post your c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file or send it to us at support@serverpress.com

    Thank you for your patience,
    Stephen

Do you not have a hosts file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\? You will need to copy the file to your desktop and rename it to hosts.txt before attachment here. The hosts file in should be identical c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts = c:\xampplite\hosts

Dreamweaver functionality is only available in DesktopServer Premium.

For Windows Home Premium, please try the “Remove or copy…” the existing http://www.example.dev site and try ‘Create a new website…” again.

    Hello Redpic,
PayPal also gives you the option to purchase via ‘eCheck’ through your bank account. The purchase amount is the same but will vary depending on exchange rates for your given country of origin.

We currently only accept purchases via PayPal. To use PayPal, you must use either a credit card OR eCheck by using a routing number from your bank or financial institution.
